June 26th – Great Day For Red Troops

As ex-Sun Editor Rebekah Brooks is found not guilty of all charges of phone hacking after an eight month case which cost an estimated 30 million pounds.

Here she is with Charlie, who was once a horse trainer and a close friend of my mate Graham Bradley another genius/badboy like those I mentioned earlier from my field, only ‘Brad’ was what most of his peers called, like Ali, ‘The Greatest’. He is a Leeds United supporter for all of his sins, and a great bloke who was with Charlie the one and only time I met him, although it was just a nod hello. I was with Steve Smith-Eccles at Ascot and two cars pulled up alongside one another and as I got out with the ‘Eck’ Brad jumped out and opened the back of their motor where they changed their shoes. Brad was all over the Sporting Life that morning for a ride he gave a horse at Worcester and ‘ The Eck’ commented on it, and Brad replied that, “There is only one man in the world who could have won on that horse Eck, my firend”, which was classic. And as we walked away the ‘Eck’ said to me that, “If he says that then he was the only man who could have done such a thing, he is that good.”

One day I had the pleasure to have him talk me through how ro ride at Cheltenham and it was like listening to Bobby Moore telling you about marking Pele. Brad knows his game inside and out and wheh he won the Champion Hurdle on Jim Old’s horse, Collier Bay, after missing the big ride favourite through his alarm clock not going off before working out one morning for Kim Bailey, it is another fantastic story, maybe he might reply and enter it into this book, I promise it’s worth listening to for you racegoers.

I am happy to boast that I am a friend of Brad and have enjoyed a few good times with him and I just hope that he is back in the racing game sooner rather than later as he has his license back now but needs more owners, come on chaps, you know he’s the best, just look at the horses he got over from Germany for Cheltenham. He is the only man who could do that as well, watch this space…

Much like in football it is people like Graham Bradley who should be in charge of the Jockey Club, those that have experienced big race riding and know what it takes, instead like me with Alf Ramsey and the FA we get banned by morons.
